Statement

Date: Jan. 8, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Mimi Walters (CA-45) released the following statement after being sworn into the 114th Congress by House Speaker John Boehner (OH-8). Rep. Walters joined 43 new Republicans and 15 new Democrats, putting the Republican majority at 246 -- the highest amount since the post-World War II era.

Said Rep. Walters, "Yesterday, it was a privilege to be sworn in as a member of the 114th Congress. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve California's 45th Congressional District -- and I thank my constituents and the people of Orange County for this deep honor. As we begin this new Congress, our focus must continue to be on job creation and lessening the burden of government on hard-working Americans. While challenging work lies ahead, I am confident that with a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and conservative values, we can make a true difference in the direction of this nation. I look forward to working with my colleagues to accomplish these goals -- and again, offer my sincere thanks to my constituents for this incredible opportunity."
